Beauty Notes

The weather in Sydney over the past few weeks has been totally erratic. Getting rained on in the morning, several outfit changes through the day and the sniffles, I can’t handle it! And if I can’t handle it, there is no way my skin can manage. Generally just a slab of whatever moisturiser I’ve got lying around and I’m done, hydrated but not oily, nice and smooth. But lately I’ve had dry patches around the bridge of nose, underlying spots on my chin (most likely caused by Easter eggs on sale, but whatever…), and super dehydrated, rough bits around my jawline! It has not been good. So I’ve decided to up the ante.

I try and do the best for my skin and body, but honestly my motivation comes in waves. I love the sound and idea of Organic food and skincare products, but then I really am a sucker for that extra scoop of gelato because it’s more, uhhh, cost effective?

I took a week to mull over which moisturiser I wanted to invest my hard earned money on. When it comes to skin and makeup, I don’t mind spending big, just as long as it’s not too often. Would it be something luxurious from Chanel, or perhaps my first ever, very trusty moisturiser from Estee Lauder. I figured that as I put makeup on my face most days (I can’t live without Bobbi Brown Concealer, YSL Touche Eclait and Stila Convertible Compact cheek colour), I should aim for something natural and good for me.

I headed to Perfect Potion and picked up the Skin Elixir for damaged skin and have been glowing since. I first notice that the ingredients are Australian Certified Organic, the product is not tested on animals (super essential!) and that the bottle is recyclable. I’m off to a good start. I look closer and see that the Skin Elixir is composed of pure essential oils, cold pressed oils and herbal infused oils. Impressive, right? Well, I’m totally sold when I have a look at the ingredients and see all of the natural products I’ve read about countless times in magazines and books but have been too overwhelmed to know where to start.

The Skin Elixir contains rosehip oil for restoration, calendula for soothing, frankincense for toning, patchouli for hydration, lavender for calming, as well as a bunch of others, including wheatgerm and carrot to nourish the skin. And boy has my skin been nourished! I have been using Skin Elixir at night for the past two weeks and despite the continual crummy atmospheric conditions, my skin is back in good condition. I’m super impressed with this product, and for $29.95 it is definitely worth having in your makeup drawer for stressful skin situations!
